BANTUL REGENCY

Pantai Parangtritis ( Parangtritis Beach )
Situated in Parangtritis village, some 27 km south of Jogjakarta city, Parangtritis Beach is a plain one with rocky hill view in the eastern and northern parts, with sands along the beach, and the barchans-typed dunes in the western parts. Well known as beautiful beach, Parangtritis has also some other sacred places.

Pantai Depok ( Depok Beach )
Located in the east of the mouth of river Opak in Parangtritis, Depok Beach is a fishermen village where visitors can see the daily life of the fishermen while purchasing fresh fish from the local market and enjoy the cuisine in the food stalls.

Gumuk Pasir Tipe Barchan ( Barchan type Sand Dunes )
The Barchan typed Dunes, the scarce ones having the shape of crescent, can be found in the western part of Parangkusumo. This area is a natural laboratory that is much needed to learn the natural formation of the barchans typed dunes. The Dunes Museum is already built in this location.

Makam Raja – Raja Mataram Imogiri ( The Graveyard of Mataram Kings in Imogiri )
Built by Sultan Agung Hanyokrokusumo, the greatest king in the era of the Islamic Mataram Dynasty ( 1613 – 1645 AD ), this cemetery is located on the hill in Pajimatan, Girirejo, the subdistrict of Imogiri, about 17 km south of Jogjakarta city. The area consists of two parts, those are the Cemetery of Yogyakarta Sultanate, and the one of Surakarta Kingdom. The visitors have to walk up on a staircase of 345 steps to reach the cemetery and wear Javanese Traditional costumes in its main part. The traditional ceremony of Nguras Kong ( Pitcher Cleansing ) is held in the cemetery on Friday or Tuesday of Kliwon ( the Javanese Day ).

Desa Wisata Batik Kayu “Krebet” ( Wooded Batik Tourism Village of Krebet )
Located 15 km southwest of Jogjakarta city, Krebet lies on a hilly land of Pajangan subdistrict in Bantul Regency. This tourist village produces a great variety of wooden handicrafted products with “Batik” motifs. Statues, masks, jewelery cases, puppets, toys and smaller items are made by skilled handicraftsmen and sold at reasonable prices. Visitors interested in the delightful making of a handicrafted item and the enjoyment of the countryside view may stay longer at the village’s hostel.
